Description

NPN transistor is a type of bipolar junction transistor (BJT) widely used in electronic circuits for amplification and switching. It consists of three layers of semiconductor materials: two N-type (negative) layers flanking a P-type (positive) layer. This configuration allows electrons, which are the main charge carriers, to flow easily from the collector to the emitter when a current is applied to the base.

Main Features

  • Structure: Composed of three regions: emitter (N), base (P), and collector (N).
  • Operation: When current flows through the base, it allows a much larger current to flow between the collector and emitter.

Applications:

  • Weak signal amplification
  • Switching in digital and analog circuits
  • Use in oscillation circuits and audio amplifiers
